4 y/o DS still wetting at night...
I posted this on the regular parenting board too but figured you guys have all BTDT so I would ask you too. Thanks so much! for any advice...
My 4 y/o DS still wears a pull up to bed at night. And about every other night, it is wet in the morning. He is a very deep sleeper. I make him go potty right before we go to bed at night and this still happens. Is this something he will just grow out of or is there something I should be doing or need to do? He NEVER has accidents during the day, this is only at night that he still wets.
If it matters at all he just turned 4 on 4/12 and has been completely potty trained (daytime) since June of last year at about 3 years and 2months.
TIA for any/all advice. I'm so worried that there is something I'm missing!

maybe try putting his underwear under the pull-up so if he goes, he feels it but you still don't have a big mess in the bed?

Re: 4 y/o DS still wetting at night...
I am dealing with this with my 6 yo DS as well (even though my 4 yo has dry nights) And my co-worker's 6 yo DD also has this issue.
Some of it is that if they are growing fast, their blatter doesn't grow as fast, so they need the extra liquids, but they can't hold the amount they need.
Myy ped also says it can be genetic - DH was as well.

Does your ped have any suggestions for you? Or is this something he says they should grow out of?

Re: 4 y/o DS still wetting at night...
My ped told me that its normal and that they do not get concerned until the child is 9 or 10 years old. My DS was almost 7 when we tried the bed wetting alarm for the 2nd time and it worked.
The first time we tried it, he was 5 and it did NOTHING.
Bedwetting is SO normal

My son will be 4 next month and he still wakes up soaking wet. He has no interest in trying to stay dry at night.

Re: 4 y/o DS still wetting at night...
We just started no pull ups at night this week(DD will be 4 in July). She is dry maybe every 3rd night. I double sheet the bed so if she wets I can easily strip the top set of sheets/mattress protector pad & the 2nd set is below.
I just bought a couple pairs of the waterproof underwear by pottypatty (Haven't received them yet though).
I read somewhere that you can't "train" them to be dry through the night; it is something that just happens when they are ready/mature enough.
We limit all liquids after 5pm (she goes to bed at 745).
I sometimes wake her when I go to bed around 1130.

Re: 4 y/o DS still wetting at night...
I struggle with this with both my 4 and 6 year olds. Ped is not concerned since it is very common. It is a developmental thing...some kids bodies cannot physically stay dry at night.
I tried taking the pullups away thinking they wre using it as a crutch. After almost three weeks of frustration, annoyance and a lot of laundry we are back in pullups.
Despite being frustrated, my ped is not concerned and said I just need to ride it out.

Re: 4 y/o DS still wetting at night...
DD still wakes up in the am wet even though she gets nothing to drink after dinnertime so she's still in pullups. She just completely trained during the day and will be 4 the end of July. I was the only one out of 4 kids that never wet the bed and my nieces and nephews all had issues. I guess I expect the nightime to be more difficult since we had problems getting her daytrained. My 2 year old however seems to be doing much better with the potty and isn't even as wet as her big sister is in the morning.

I started doing this as well after DD was sick in case she threw up in her bed - so much easier to clean up and this way I stayed in the habit for when we try for no pullups.
