Phone Interview

I have a phone interview tomorrow.

I've never had one before and I'm so much more nervous than an in-person one.

Any tips or tricks?

Re: Phone Interview

Have your resume in front of you, prep on some phrase you'd like to use.

My preliminary interview is pretty short (20 minutes) before passing them on to the manager for a more in depth technical interview.

Be ready with your salary history in case it comes up, know what range you're looking for.

Look up the company (no brainer!), find out what's new in the sector you're looking for & MENTION it. Drill down into the website.

Agree with above. I do phone screenings pretty often. Make sure you are somewhere you can focus and not be bothered---I hate when I can hear background noise and the candidate gets distracted.

Also relax because this is really just a screening!

Re: Phone Interview

I agree with all that was mentioned (I had one a few weeks ago).
Also, it might be helpful to have your planner/calander in front of you in case they ask about on-site interview possibilities.

Thanks everyone.

I'm kind of certain that I flubbed it. I tripped over some words and got in my own head.

So disappointed in myself!
