Update on top: German shepard/ lab.
Just got back from the vet, and the Dr. said its either allergies or a parasite. Did some testing and it looks more like allergies but, could still be a parasite. So we are treating this as an allergy and the pup is on meds and have to get him omega 3. So we basically have to watch to see if he improves with the meds and keep close tabs with the Doc. Thanks for all the info and help!

Re: Need help ASAP! for my german shepard lab.
Maybe the vet can take a small skin sample to rule out mange?

Could be so many things. Could he have gotten bit by a tick? Could be mites or mange, or flea bites. Could be an allergy.
You will have to rule these things out one by one.

Doesnt look like that, it is pretty isolated to one side.
ETA: its localized except for the patch my husband found on our dogs chest where the hair ans some skin came off. Ill try to get a pic when I come home from work.

We checked for ticks and havent found one. A neighbor of ours said it might be ringworm and gave us a rec. for a vet that they go to. hopefully the new place we go to will do more indepth stuff then the first place we went to.

My dog is the queen of skin issues. Sounds like you need an antibiotic. My dog had that a few weeks ago. She lost a patch of hair on her hind leg. The vet gave us an antibiotic and she's fine now.

It could very well be allergies. They are so bad right now. My pup is on Hydroxyzine for her allergies and my neighbor's dog has had (what sounds like) the same issue as your pup. He scratches so much that he looses hair and gets bald spots. He is on even more meds/shots, etc. Good luck and if anything get a second opinion!

Casey had something like that and we thought it was ringworm, we took her to the vet and they said she had a skin infection and gave us antibiotic and shampoo for her.

This happened to my Delilah last year. She had a terrible case of fleas and was ripping her skin and hair out. BUT, you would definitely notice scratching and biting. Lilah never had fleas until last year, so we didnt even think that could be it.

Simple question, but what food do you give him..and what type of treats?

I was thinking the same thing to. We had him on pro plan and switch him to blue bluffalo (he started having symptoms before being switched). He has had petco brand dog treats since we got him last year.
