Almost June..How was your school year?

Mine school year was amazing. I was in a new school teaching a new grade (1st) after being in another school for 8 years and having it close. Never did I think I would go to a school that I could grow to love, or work with awesome people again, or find another grade I LOVE. I cried every day the first 2 months of school and one day it just hiot me that I reallly liked it. My kids are so cute, the people I work with are great, and the parents could not be more supportive. So all in all, my year was great!

My school year was good, although I was so caught up with personal stuff (pregnancy losses.. IVF .. .etc) to really fully immerse myself in school stuff like I normally would have.

All in all, I think my kids had a good year.

not too bad considering that I had to take on 40% more load (they excessed someone last year and I took the brunt). it made the days go by quick.

We will have a new principal next year, so it's a bit exciting to look forward to.

Miserable schedule/ split in 2 rooms/ random cr@p made it a very tough year.

It was also my 1st yr w/o a chair since mine retired and the position was eliminated. We were close and there are days when I still miss having him there.

Biggest positive was some really great classes/ students and I felt comfortable enough with my grade level to change/ create new things.

Regardless, I'm burnt and done and counting down for a summer break to recharge.

I had a great year. My kiddos are adorable and just made my year a blast. I had a six week bump with a possible new student, but the kid ended up not coming so all ended well.

Not a bad year for a girl who filed for divorce in Oct. I have my students to thank since they kept me smiling every step of the wayChat Icon

It was mixed... I had an ... interesting schedule, but at least my AP classes were AMAZING... however, I did have three of them, so there was a ton of work.

I loved the seniors, but they were draining, too (my best friend claimed she never saw me on any of my off periods in the fall because they were either having crises or needing help with college stuff, and they automatically came to me.)

But overall, it was a good year... I'm kind of dreading the end...

Overall, this was a good year. I had nice students and I am finally very comfortable with the curriculum, so I have been doing a lot of modifying to make my lessons more inquiry and project based. I have also attended numerous conferences to assist me in doing this - I have done so much professional development this year. I also became a mentor at my HS to a wonderful sophomore. She is amazing and we really connected this year - hopefully we get matched up again next year.

Additionally, it was my tenure year. Chat Icon

Re: Almost June..How was your school year?

I had an up and down year. My classes were very good and I enjoyed all three (I teach 7th grade math in Queens), so that is an unusual case for me. But I was put into a closet to teach this year. (they actually cut a classroom in half and put up a wall, and still are squishing 31 kids into that half a classroom. I can't even fit desks- they have to use tables!) I was also assigned lunch duty so I lost one prep period every single day. We had an 'unexpected' quality review and didn't find out until 2 months beforehand so my administration put an enormous amount of pressure on the staff. People were having breakdowns, crying, insomnia, ulcers, panic attacks, you name it- due to the stress our admin puts us through. It was awful. The overall morale in my building is at an all-time low.... Chat Icon Let's just say I can't wait until June 28th!
