When a Preschool teacher gives a recommendation...
... is it normal to refuse to give the parent themselves the recommendation? We need 2 recommendations from Connor's Preschool teachers and she refuses to give it directly to us? Is it some sort of secret? Personally, I'm upset that she won't just give us one. She said that there is some sort of form that she is suppose to fill out and mail to the Kindergarten office? I told her, that there isn't, but she doesn't care? WTH??? We just met with her for a Spring conference and they had nothing but great things to say about him, but now she doesn't want me seeing what she's going to write? It makes it sound like she's going to write something bad about him? I have no idea why, but that's how it looks doesn't it? His teachers told me how he's more than ready for Kindergarten and more than ready than his current classmates. I don't understand why she's being like this? Is this a normal thing? I could understand maybe if it's for a College recommendation or a job, etc. Not from a Preschool teacher? This is coming from someone who thinks she's a know-it-all too. She said he wouldn't pass the test, etc. Proved her wrong! I'm thinking she's mad about it and is not going to write something good? This would only hurt him? Do you think she would really do that?

Re: When a Preschool teacher gives a recommendation...
I know that anything I write HAS to go through my office first and they send it where it has to go. There is a protocol to follow. I don't know if that's what she's doing, but that's how it is for me.

I think it's standard procedure for stuff NOT to go through the parents so I wouldn't take it personally.
Not that you would tamper with it - but the potential is there for tampering and forgery if the teacher passes the letter to you and then you pass it to the school.

Re: When a Preschool teacher gives a recommendation...
As a former pre-school teacher, I personally wouldn't have a problem with it, but it may be the school's policy. I know I had to pass EVERYTHING to my director that I wrote before anything was given to parents.

Re: When a Preschool teacher gives a recommendation...
That is standard procedure for anywhere I've ever taught or anytime I've ever requested a recommendation from someone.
