Pizzed and upset - bra issue
I went to Georgette's today. I usually have a great experience there. Not today.
Today she measures me and says I am a 34DDD. I am wearing a 34DDD now - but it could fit better around the band and cups. The other 34DDD I have at home is too small.
The first one I try I am spilling out of all over. I can tell the band is too big and the cups are too small.
She brings me a 34G. Still doesn't fit right - the band is a tad too big so it's not sitting right.
I have always had a small ribcage, so I ask her for a 32-something. She says they don't make bras in my size. I say, well maybe you don't carry them but they certainly make them (I've seen that size in numerous stores online). She starts arguing with me that they just don't make a 32G or 32H anywhere, which is what I would need, so I leave.
I am dying to go to Linda's in the city but I just don't have the time, with two kids and a DH who works weekends.
I'm going to have to order a bunch online and see what fits best, which SUCKS because these bras are so damn expensive.
I am seriously upset over this.

I went to her a while back and I bought 2 bras - I never wear the ones she suggested. They are not the right fit at all!!!

Re: Pizzed and upset - bra issue
I went there for my wedding and was sooo disappointed. I bought this horrible bra and when I went for my fitting, the bridal place told me it didn't fit right. I had doubts when I bought it, but this confirmed it.
Seriously if you can find a sitter, Linda's is seriously the best place. They take a ton of time with you and have a ton of styles. They are so nice there. I felt so rushed at Georgette's.

Beth I'd love to but I don't even have the time. I'm down to ONE bra at home that fits! I just ordered a few on Linda's online... hopefully one of them works!

Try Nordstrom! They have every size or else will order from another store and ship for free!

Re: Pizzed and upset - bra issue
Sounds likr you're in between 34DDD AND G, so you're prob 34F.
Since you don't want to trek to the city, try my place... I went to Magic Corsets on Austin St in Forest Hills, Queens in March.
The older woman measured me as a 32-34F and she had plenty of diff styles in stock. I got a reg bra for $55 and a strapless for $80, so I guess that's a good idea of their price range.
I know your frustration, but feel so much better in those correctly sized bras! Good luck!

Re: Pizzed and upset - bra issue
Just throwing it out there, I've haven't gone for a fitting since I was like 18, but what about Blum's in Patchogue? I don't know if they'd carry your size, but I'm sure if you called, they'd be able to let you know.

I think they do carry my size, but I refuse to go there or to Mary's, they are SO rude. Thanks though

Re: Pizzed and upset - bra issue
Mary's in Woodbury actually tailors the bras to fit you if you're in between sizes. All of my everyday bras are from here.
I only go to Georgette's for long-line bras for specific dress.

Re: Pizzed and upset - bra issue
last few times I wasn't happy at Georgettes.
I used to go to a place in East Meadow that was wonderful. They tailored my bras perfectly. At one time I was a 34DDD and I had to take the 36DDD for some reason. They took it in for me.
I wish they were still in biz.
I just went to Macys and worked with one of the sales ladies in Hicksville. Believe it or not I had a great experience. I got 4 new bras.
I'm now a 38DD.

I'm sorry you are having this issue but I find that once you know what you like. Bare necessities.com has a lot of the same brands, sometimes for less, great customer service and coupons and free shipping on the web...good luck!

Re: Pizzed and upset - bra issue
I am the same size and have always had problems bra shopping. I used to go to a great store when I lived in Chicago but have not found somewhere I like here. I wear a 32G and the definitely make bras that size. Isabellas
This is the site for the place in Chicago I liked...you might find something you could order.
Good luck and let us know what you find!

Re: Pizzed and upset - bra issue
I am disappointed you had a bad experience! I was planning on going there in a few weeks. I need to get measured and find a good strapless bra for a BM dress for my brothers wedding. So it's not worth going there even for a measurement huh? I also have a hard time finding bras that fit me nicely it stinks!

Re: Pizzed and upset - bra issue
Overpriced ignorant liars. They make me so mad!
Seriously, I hate Gorgettes, they can go
I have been to very high end underwear shops in the city they can go
You can find much better deals on stuff online and you can try things in the privacy of your own home and return what doesn't work.
every body is different, and every cut is different, every manufacturer has a different way to cut bras.
LB, seriously, you just have to order a few different ones, take time to try them all on in different sizes and learn what brand works best for you.
French bras are amazing. I love Primadona, and Chantelle. But that's because they work wonders for me, I'm a DDD and have a small ribcage too. And they come in sizes like 30DDDD.
I get coupons for www.barenecessities.com through email sign up, I use them for everything. Amazing selection, very good prices.
THEY MAKE BRAS IN YOUR SIZE and if anyone in a bra shop told me different, I would never again give that shop any business.

Agreed. I went to macys and bought 20 bras. Then I ordered from bare necessities what I didn't find there. In all, I must have tried 30 bras this time around. Landed on my Olga Christina.

Thanks ladies I can't wait to try on my bras from Linda's! I will never go back to Georgette's again. Being old isn't an excuse for not knowing the market.

Re: Pizzed and upset - bra issue
UPDATE (can't edit on the iPad):
I went to Linda's in the city. So, so glad I did. I ended up walking out with two bras that I LOVE, both Chantelle. One if them, holy cow, I look like a porn star (in a good way). Turns out I am a 32H. Yup. Lucky me, right?
At least I know what size to get in the future which was the purpose of trekking out there. So thanks for the help everyone!
