Diana I'm so so sorry for your loss.  How awesome that you got to have a nice dinner with him before he passed away though. Such a sweet memory. I know how you feel about Ian being cheated of his grandpa. My dad passed away almost 8 years ago and it breaks my heart that his grandchildren never got to know him and vice versa. He would have made an incredible grandpa and would have loved every minute of it. Like with your FIL, we got to have a really great big family dinner with my dad the night before he passed (having no idea that it was his last night), and I have always felt so warmed by that last memory. The best thing you can do for Ian, like you said, is tell stories about his Grandpa, tell his jokes, remember him, always keeping his memory alive. Many hugs and prayers for you and your family
