Giardia in Puppies
Apparently Shamrock has the Giardia parasite. The vet says he just needs to take meds and he will be ok.
But my question is- he has been pooping in the house on the rugs- I do clean it - scrub it and spray with vinergar and water for the smell- will the parasite still be in my rugs? If I steam clean the rugs will it remove it?
TIA

Wow. Good question. Not sure. Did you try google?
He will do fine with the meds, it's very common.
Also wash your hands good after handling the poop, etc. I believe humans can get it too.

Re: Giardia in Puppies
I did google it but really couldnt come up with anything about inside the house. Only on the grass outside. It says it can stay on the grass up to 30 days.

Re: Giardia in Puppies
Contact the breeder you bought him from for two reasons - they should be able to give you advice and be able to tell you if they have any financial responsibility in his treatment. I don't know what your contract says but the breeder we got our first dog from paid for the treatment of all the pre-existing medical issues we dealt with. But only because I asked and furnished receipts.
A lot of people swear by Nature's Miracle but I don't know what can dispense of the disease itself.
I hope Shamrock feels better soon!
