Anyone start there own party planning business or something similar?

I am looking for some insight. I have always had the dream to but never had the guts but DH is really pushing me so I just wanted to hear from people who have been there already.

I did, wedding planning and a few Bar Mitzvahs mixed in for about 3 years. I loved it but my job as an attorney pays better and I found that in many instances with party planning, I had to argue with the maitre d's to get my clients what they paid for. I kept my clients happy but I eventually decided that if I am being paid to argue, it should be at my attorney rate! Then the bankruptcy boom happened at the same time I had my son, so I have optimized my time by working my attorney job full time. Then I got an opportunity to write a law related book that is still in the works. I miss many of the wedding vendors that I met. I try to keep up by helping with event planning in the legal professional organizations I belong to. There are tons of events and they have turned out to be great networking for me anyway. I would encourage someone to start such a business in the right circumstances. I am glad I tried it and I am glad that I found ways to use the experience in my law career.
