I have not, but I know several who have; it's supposed to be very nice with some hills.

Hi!! If you are looking to do a fast time, I'd say Diva. I was not a fan of Diva as far as the course - it is great as far as being flat, but I felt it was boring scenery (Coliseum, industrial park, etc.). Also, I thought the starting area was crazy and unorganized - they had the corrals all blocked off 10 minutes before the start and I almost didn't get in them. But, in all fairness, it was their first year. Nice medal though! Hamptons is probably nice scenery, but hillier. You have access to run hills, so it might not be an issue. If you want the best of both worlds (flat, fast and nice scenery), I highly recommend the Entenmanns in Bay Shore. It is the same weekend as Diva, but on the Sat. The only thing you will not get is the huge crowds - then again, Diva did not have a ton of spectators either. The best thing about Entenmanns is that it's only $25 and you can sign up that day. They also have a 10k and 5k race. I love it and hope to do it this year.
Hope that helps, let me know if you have any more questions. How are you feeling anyway??

Re: Hamptons Half Marathon/Marathon
I haven't run it, but I heard the course is very scenic, but a little hilly like OP said. I was thinking about doing it, but there are no hills near me for training, so that worries me a little bit.
After reading the OP, I think I might do the Entemann's. I hate to commit, so I like that you can sign up day of!

Re: Hamptons Half Marathon/Marathon
I am doing the Hamptons Half!!! It will be my first half marathon. I haven't ran the whole course yet but have ran in the area (my in-laws have a house near the course) and love it, I am so excited for it. Personally I was thinking about doing the Diva Half, Grete's Gallop (in CP) or Hamptons Half and decided on Hamptons Half.
I am training on hills a little in CP but going to try doing the ones on the course out in East Hampton next weekend. Hopefully it will go well!

Re: Hamptons Half Marathon/Marathon
I live in a very hilly neighborhood perfect for running. The question is, will my knee be able to handle it... since I am just recovered from an injury that I got while running the very hilly Kings Park 15k. If I did the hamptons half my brother would run too. He is much faster so we wouldnt be running together though. I heard there was no entenmanns this year... I will have to look into that to see if it is going to happen or not.

As far as I know, it's on. There was a "rumor" that Entenmanns was not sponsoring it this year, but I haven't heard anything since my source told me that months ago. It is listed in the Islip newsletter still. I find they don't full blown advertise that race. Did you hear something very recently that it was not going to happen?

I just saw this in the Islip newsletter also and it is still called the Entenmann's Great South Bay Run. It says that registration forms will be available as of July 1st. I assume we will be able to register online as of that day also.
I am definitely doing this one instead of the Diva half. Its so much cheaper and its also closer to home for me.

good to know~ I'd rather do this than the dive so my brother can join me. We run almost every race together (well not together, but you know what I mean)

I hear ya - that's like me and my brother. He is faster than me so I know better than to try and keep up during a race. I LOVE the Entenmanns!! Again, you won't get the screaming spectators, but personally, I don't need that. It's just a pretty course, you run along the canals in Brightwaters and in the nice neighborhoods. It's super flat so you would do awesome if you run hills!! And you get free baked goods at the end.
I wasn't impressed with Diva, the course was similar to LI, but more boring. At least the LI goes through some more interesting areas, Diva kind of stayed closer to Eisenhower and just looped that industrial area near the Coliseum. I did run my fastest half marathon time, but I don't think I'd do that race again, especially for $65+
