If you have natural nails - how long are they?

I am growing mine out but I don't know how long they should/could really be. My nail beds are on the short side. Right now the whites are about 1/16 inch long, and the total length from the base of the nail to the tip is about 1/2 inch long. I want to go longer... without crossing the line into tacky.

The longest I have had mine- that they would grow and stay strong on their own was to the tip of my finger. Maybe a little over.

mine may grow but i keep them short.
i feel like short is the most professional in my masculine field.

i just measured mine for you

total length of middle finger nail, base to tip is 1/2 inch. white top part is about 1/2 cm.

any longer than this and they start to break.

I just measured -- mine are almost exactly 1/2 inch from base to tip. I reeeeeeally dislike long nails, though.

I just measured mine as well and it's 1/2 inch.. I don't like them too long

I have small fingers and hands as well as short nail beds.

I file them them to the tip of my finger. Once in awhile I will grown them a bit over the tip so I can get a french manicure.

I had to pull out my ruler for this one!

I like to keep them on the shorter side.

I have long nail beds and the whites I try to keep less than 1/8 inch, so there a smidge over the tip of my finger but not too much.

Any longer and I can't type really function well with typing at work, cleaning, etc.

Haha, it's so funny that we're all measuring our nails! I have a vision of all these LIFers busting out their rulers... like I just did

My nail bed is just over 1/2" long (almost 1/16" over on some nails). Right now the white growth is about 1/16", but I will go up to 1/8", not any more than that.

I also have chubby fingers, so I feel like not having any white growth at all makes my fingers look too stubby. I like a little growth to make them look more feminine without being trashy. And I love me a french mani (don't get them often, but I love 'em).

Thank you everyone for busting out your rulers I am going to let them grow to about 1/8 inch - I think any more than that and I will end up unintentionally poking my kids in the eyes

i have very short nail beds and i keep my nails shorter than the end of my fingertip. I hate long nails. I clip my toenails very short, too.

Just busted out the ruler and my nails are about 1/2 inch from base to tip, but my ring finger nail just broke so i will probably file them all down if i manage to go to the nail salon. If not they will continue to grow until they break... i am horrible at cutting/filing them and making them look even!

I have short nail beds and mine are short- about a half inch total. That's about as long as I'll let them get.

My nail to finger tip is 3/8 of an inch long, I usually let then grow to about 1/2 inch, so about an 1.8 inch of white past the tip of my finger. I find polish lasts longer when they are shorter too.

My nails grow fast and could get long if I let them but I prefer to keep them short. Since I don't have a ruler handy..here's a visual aid

I just measured mine - most are between 1/2" and 3/4" and I just thought this morning that they need to be cut.

For me, over 1/2" gets to be too long, but my nails are pretty strong and don't break on their own too easily, so I have to cut and file them.

I have teeny tiny nail beds and don't let the nails go past the tip of my finger, not a fan of longer nails on myself. I think I may have the smallest nails in the world for an adult. Seriously.

I keep mine just over the top of my finger. So that when I turn my hand around and look at my palm, I can see a little nail peeking over my finger.

My fingers are freakishly long, so my nails always look long. Right now they are as short as can be.
