Re: Please take my poll - Acrylic nails or natural

I have really short nails-
I had the nail place put on silk tips and i waited until my natural nails grew enough

I then had them take the silk off and put silk on my natural nail(bc they are very unstable!)
I think it looks really nice---JMO!

Re: Please take my poll - Acrylic nails or natural

I only like them if they look completely natural -
I'm not a fan of very long nails, or dark polish on long nails .........if they LOOK fake, then they're tacky.

Agreed- sometimes they also look too wide and you can tell they are fake.
If they look totally natural- then that's fine.

Re: Please take my poll - Acrylic nails or natural

everytime i get nails, i always regret it.

it takes 6 months for my nails to grow out after i remove the fakes. then my nails looks like garbage for those 6 months. i remember they were so thin, i was flossing my teeth and the floss split my nail in half and i had to cut it below the nail line- yuck

they sell natural looking press ons- im so not kidding either - i just put french ones on for my friend's wedding- i filed them very short. the new kind is very lightweight and feel like air- they lasted 4 days and i soaked them off with no harm to my natural nails.

consider that first before anything!

my nails have always been weak and will not grow past a certain point. I get wraps on them and I keep them extremly short, they dont even pass the end of my fingures, DH thinks its silly because you cant tell they are fake, but thats what i like about them and i ask they make them thin, not fat. i love that nail polish doesnt chip off either.. i'll take a pic and post itChat Icon

heres the pic, dont mind the polish i like dark colors Chat Icon its the color wicked by essie

5 GREAT: FAKES
Kiss Featherlight Nail Kit
Forget Lee Press-Ons. These lightweight faux tips create a much more realistic look than their eighties forebears. And while removing them can be a bit tricky (they have to be soaked off in acetone), their ten-day life span (much longer than your typical salon job) makes the extra work worth it.

Price: $5.99

Available at drugstores.

Re: Please take my poll - Acrylic nails or natural

My nails were the epitome of terrible. I didn't want to get fakes for my wedding (this past June) so I tried the Nailtiques #2.

I was diligent about putting it on every night and after about 3 weeks my nails were long, strong, and beautiful.

I highly recommend trying that first.

1 word - Nailtiques!

you have to get it... formula #2, it worked wonders on my weak nails. I've been using it for years and my nails are very strong.

Re: Please take my poll - Acrylic nails or natural

I get acrylic put on my own nails, honestly just because I don't like chipped polish or broken nails. I keep my nails very short (just above my nail bed) and always have a french manicure. People always ask me if I get them "done".

I hate when girls get these super long tips with airbrush designs on them. I'm sorry, but that I think is tacky.

i actually prefer 'nail magic' - it's cheaper and works better on my nails! apply it every day for 2 months, and then once a week for maintenance.

my nails pretty much never break anymore Chat Icon

ETA: while i am personally not a fan of acrylic nails on most people, if they are kept short (like heather's) i think they are just fine.

Re: Please take my poll - Acrylic nails or natural

My nails were always strong up until I was 21..Then they became very brittle yet they were medium length. I had silk wraps put on the make them stronger (I used nailtiques but eventually it stopped working). I have had my silk wraps on ever since.

For my wedding, I had them do the permanent french on my silk wraps & they were very natural looking. I don't keep my nails long but they are not short (just enough to hang over the edge of my fingertip). I do not plan on taking my silk wraps off anytime soon.
