The great debate: acrylic vs. natural nails...
I went for my first ob appointment and I asked about this question. I had read on the internet that acrylic or any other chemicals on your nails is a no-no. I asked the doc and he said it isn't such a big deal. hmmm... I'm confused...

I took mine off once I found out I was PG. However I'm not so worried about things like that. It turns out I had my hair dyed and my nails done before I knew I was PG and everything is fine.

I had acrylic nails the whole time during my first pregnancy. I got rid of them afterwards because I never had the time or the money.

I think the upkeep would be a huge factor. I wouldn't have been able to deal with the morning sickness and a fill-in.
The fumes ARE pretty bad though. Even the nail technicians wear masks. I guess I would avoid it altogether.

sometimes bacteria can grow under the acrylic if not kept clean.. just another worry imo.. I went for natural nails.. plus same some $$ to spend on the baby.

I don't really get my nails done (mostly just pedis in the summer). My SIL got me this though at one of those little kiosk's at the mall and it's a good alternative:

my dr said the acrylic or silk wraps or fine.
I took mine off about 2 months ago only because my nails have gotten a lot stronger since taking vitamins.
