Major Garden Issues - Need Help!!!
I have seriously neglected my gardens this year, albeit for a good reason (I'm pregnant) and am looking for any advice.
My rose bushes are seriously overgrown. The first bloom died a few weeks ago and I just trimmed the dead blooms, plus some dead branches. My plan was to feed and give them a nice thick layer of mulch followed by lots of water. Do you think this'll be enough to save 'em? Also, since the first blooms are gone, do you think it'd be save to trim them now, or do I have to wait until the end of the season? FYI, I usually have blooms through Thanksgiving.
Also, last year my mums seriously overgrew and I wound up having to tie them. I don't want to have to do that again. They aren't blooming yet, but there are buds. Is is ok for me to keep trimming them back until they bloom in the fall?
Last question - can I split and replant my hastas now, or should I wait until fall.
I know this was sort of long, so if you read this, thank you And thank you for any help!!

Any major trimming or splitting should be done in the fall. I would just cut off the dead parts of the rose now and wait until the fall to cut it back. Im pretty sure they bloom one time a year.

I agree what the pp said about the roses. Mums, I have no idea about. The hosta--wait until they finish their bloom before you do anything to them. I would say 2-3 weeks for those.

You can deadhead the roses (just the spent blooms) now and they might rebloom. It may depend on what kind of rose it is. Mine have already bloomed twice, and if I keep deadheading they will continue to rebloom. Don't do any more major trimming until late fall or early spring.
I don't know anything about mums.
Hostas should be split in fall or early spring.

Thank you all for your help. I'll continue to give roses some TLC and hope they continue to bloom, which they previously did through Thanksgiving.
