fish food while away on vacation?

Hi! I need some suggestions on tablets, etc to use for our goldfish (just 1) while we're away for 5 days this summer.

Last year, I bought some type of gel from Tetra and when we came back, the entire fishtank was filthy and my fish looked very ill - as if he had been eating it the entire time we were away I guess you cannot avoid that, but I want something that will keep the tank cleaner if possible.

Any recos? Thanks!!
