Nursing Resume question

Should I only include positions that are relevant? I've only worked in one hospital. I started out as a nursing assistant and moved on to become an RN.

ETA:
Also is it normal to include your references on your resume? When I look up samples they are usualy two pages instead of one and include a list of references.

Re: Nursing Resume question

I'm not a RN, but as you know, I work in the healthcare field with a lot of nurses.

I think it is important to list experience that could be relevant to the position you are applying for, especially SKILLS.

You would be surprised of the number of older RNs I have met for example, who do not know how to use a computer that well because back in the day, everything was hand-written.

Also, if say, you are applying to work at a for-profit place, such as a home-care agency, if you have a background in sales and customer service, that definitely is relevant.

I also think it's important to play up your ability to say, work in a fast-paced environment, pay attention to detail as well as work under pressure with a limited amount of supervision.

I know that RNs who have left several jobs I worked at, it was because of these reasons, and positions that seem to be vacant require someone who has these skills ;).

Re: References.

Absolutely include them. I know where I work, they are looking to hire right away, so if they have access to the references, it makes it so much easier.

The more the better, because usually I think most places need to get in touch with at least 3 people ;)
