Breast and formula
Any experience with this? I'm trying both so DH could feed him and he could also get filled. He's so far happy with both.
Anyone tell me what a newborn should drink. He takes a little more than an oz with the formula and good with the breast too.
I never breastfed DS #1 so not sure what foods and stuff to stay away from. My mom got fresh juice not pasteurized so I can't have that? What about coffee?
Sorry, lots of questions b.c the breast is new to me and we'll see how long it lasts. Right now totally engorged.

Re: Breast and formula
I bf and gave formula right from the beginging as well. ounce is perfect. and you do not have restrict your diet like preganancy. only real rule is not to feed your baby drunk. if you can drive a car you can feed your baby. I would limit caffine. I drink 1 cup a day.

Thank you so much for responding. Breast and formula is new to me. Plus, he likes and takes to them both. Did you stick to both for a while? What was your schedule for feeding?
Thanks again. A little lost here

Re: Breast and formula
Yes I gave him formula any time it was convienent for me. I fed on demand so I had no schedule. He took both very easily as well and still does. I am FTWM so he takes my pumped milk, the boob, formula since day 1. he is 8 months and I am still BF. I wouldn't worry about quanity unless he is not thriving. just follow the lead.

Re: Breast and formula
If you plan on introducing formula down the line, my advice is to give your DC at least one feeding a day of formula. At 6 months I tried to start supplementing and he refuses it completely! I've tried all different brands he just wont accept any formula, even if I try to stick it into his cereal. The other day he actually spit out the bottle with formula and grabbed my bood. Very funny and adorable...but not cool, lol.

Re: Breast and formula
My DS is nearly 3 months old. I have dont BM & F since day 1. with no issues. I used to do 90% BF and just 1 or 2 feedings of FF, but now we are about 50/50. So I do certain feedings and my milk production has been fine in fact if I skip those feedings I feel it big time. I also pumped in the beginning
I use Good Start Formula, but started with Similac and only changed when DS started to get pretty gassy.
GL! and Congrats.
ETA: I used to feed on demand in the beginning during the day. Then DH gave formula at night before bed, around 9 ish.

Re: Breast and formula
I did both also. DD was in the NICU and she got formula over night when I was discharged and we kept that up once she came home. DH would give a bottle for one overnight feeding and I would nurse for all the other feedings.
For coffee, I'd drink a HUGE cup right after nursing.
