Re: 1st birthday favors??
You should check out this store called Star Trek. It is in Farmingdale off of 110. It is a warehouse full of Oriental Trading type stuff sold in a dozen. For my DD's first I put in a set of mini maracas, a little ball, a mini monkey beach ball (her bday was monkey theme), a little rubber ducky and a thing of bubbles. all of these things came in a pack of 12.

Re: 1st birthday favors??
I"d do bubbles and maybe a small water soaker ball like this:
Oriental Trading has them: LINK
They're age appropriate and fun for the summer.
You could also do snacks like individual goldfish or pretzel bags. (I would do goldfish b/c Elmo loves goldfish = Dorothy)
ETA: You can also do chocolate covered pretzel rods in red colored chocolate or with lots of red sprinkles.... HTH!

Re: 1st birthday favors??
We did a cookie monster theme for DSs 1sy bday in june and for a favor we did a dark blue pail, a dark blue beach ball (oriental trading), sesame street stickers (on clearance at party city) and a cookie monster book from targets dollar bins. Check out target bc they may still have them.

Re: 1st birthday favors??
I also had beach pails for DS's favor. I put in bubbles & a sand toy from the dollar store, and also a package of goldfish. We just went to a bday party today she had these adorable sippy cups with sesame street characters on them. I'm not sure where she got them though.

Re: 1st birthday favors??
I bought these wooden toys that are very similar to little people (which I know they have them in sesame street characters), and put cheerios in each since a 1yr old cannot have candy. For my DD 2nd we did a Sesame Street theme and from the $1 section in target I got cups, plates, socks, crayons and coloring books

Re: 1st birthday favors??
We went to a 2nd birthday party at the beach and the favor was a pail and shovel, with DS' name in black sharpie. Inside was a pair of sunglasses, three stickers, a small kite (cheesy at first look but cute and DS runs around with it ) and a package of fish crackers. I do believe all of the things were from Oriental trading. It was quite cute.
