Well we got our placement for my son! A little upset about it.
My son is going from a regular classroom with a 1v1 aide to the Westhampton Beach Learning Center (BOCES) 8:1:1 with a 1v1 aide and he is going to get group and individual counseling once/week.
Im bummed because we last we spoke he was going to Sayville. I work in Sayville and we were looking to move to Oakdale so we could be closer to my work and Gabes school. I was planning on dropping him off and picking him up. Now hes going to need to take a bus. Its a 40 minute ride from Shoreham. IDK if there will be any other children on the bus etc.
They have said, which I agree to, that my son needs a program inbetween regular school and BOCES however there is none :(
Im just sad :( No matter what, no matter where... I cant take my son anywhere without him getting into trouble. Hes really focusing on my little boy who is almost 5. They have a love hate relationship. My oldest is jealous of him b/c he is really well behaved and doesnt get into a lot of trouble. I think thats why he teases him so much :( I have to watch him like a hawk 24/7. I try to give him as much 1v1 attention as possible. I just wish there were was an answer. :(

Re: Well we got our placement for my son! A little upset about it.
There are so many things to constantly consider. The dynamics between kids, where to live, what is the right choice for a program etc. It's daunting....
However, I think the worst part is the unknown, and once things fall into place it can be a bit easier. I truly hope your ds is really happy in his new placement so that you can exhale.

Well I called the principal who was so nice! We have a tour on Monday. I told the principal my son has threatened to run away b/c he doesnt want to go to this school. The principal was so understanding. He said the only reason he is not going to Sayville is they only have a 5th grade and if my son needs more than he will need to transfer again.
