Where did I go wrong?
I've been doing the South Beach diet religiously since 7/5, and I've been losing weight. Last weigh in, I was down 6 lbs, the most I've been down this whole time I have been trying to lose weight (since 4/1). This week was the first week I was on phase 2 entirely. Each day this week, I only ate 1 serving of light whole wheat bread, and 1 serving of fruit. Everything else was like phase 1. Well I gained 1.5 lbs this week
The only thing I can think of is that I also added in sugar free candy the week before, and I've been having one serving every day. Do you think that could be it? Otherwise I have been PERFECT on this diet. I don't understand.

Re: Where did I go wrong?
Don't panic. The 1.5 is really not a huge increase at all...som people see that from Day to Day!
As far as the sugar free candies, GET RID OF EM! They can absolutely inhibit weight loss. I am in the middle of getting rid of sugar free gum and splenda. It's hard for me because it has become such a part of my daily foods but I feel it's important. Cut them out if you can!
Also, I would try to track your calories. Even though you are eating healthy foods and following south beach, it mght be wise to check your macros!

Re: Where did I go wrong?
In addition to the bread and fruit what are you eating?... I am not up on the details of the SB diet. I hate to say it but I hear all too often people that go on these fad diets and lose weight but then just gain it back because it's not a lifestyle change. One other thing to keep in mind with these diets is that sometimes you take in too few calories which will help you lose weight at the start but then eventually your body kicks into like a starvation mode and that will really mess up your body and your metabolism. I have been wanting to lose about 10-15 lbs and my friend introduced me to MyFitnessPal.com and it has really helped me track what I am eating and is helping me make more healthy choices. I have been tracking my food and exercise on there for the last 3 weeks and I have already lost 5 lbs just by eating better. Best of luck and definitely check out my fitness pal.

Re: Where did I go wrong?
Thanks. I'll weigh myself tomorrow and see if it is the same, or just a fluctuation. I did have a lot of water yesterday in the hopes of flushing myself out. Sometimes it takes a few days.
Well, I finished the bag, so now I'm not buying anymore sugar free candies.I just thought of it, but I was eating about 2-3 a day, and I went through 1 big bag and 2 smaller bags in under 2 weeks! Hence, this may have been my problem...they don't have sugar, but they still have carbs.

I did SB diet 7 years ago, lost 30 lbs and kept it all off. I'm doing it again to finally finish my weight loss once and for all! So I know it works!
I eat eggs, nuts, lots of salads, lean protein (chicken/turkey burgers), sometimes plain greek yogurt with berries mixed in. I've been eating my wheat bread at breakfast with some protein (peanut butter or an egg). For lunch is either a salad with protein or turkey burger with veggies/fruit. I eat nuts and low fat cheese for snacks. Dinner is a protein and veggies.

Yeha that could definitely be it! The candies also make you crave more sweets! Hence the eating bags of them in a few weeks! Dont sweat it...tomorrow will be better im sure!

Sounds like you are taking in a good amount of food and it's good that you have had success with it in the past. I guess I am of no help here then but best of luck!

Re: Where did I go wrong?
Well now I'm down 0.5 lbs, so i only gained 1 lb since last Friday. It's still good BC I am down 5 lbs from the start. I'm cutting out all these fake sugar treats for dessert.
Does anyone know if the fruit cocktail in light syrup has a lot of carbs/sugar?

I m not positive since I dont eat it, but I would imagine that is loaded with sugar. Stick to fresh fruit when at all possible.

Yeah, I looked it up online and it is 18 carbs and 16 g of sugar!
So I decided this week I'm going to buy fresh strawberries and put a little reddi whip on it. That only has 1 g carbs and 1g sugar. A little on top will make it a treat but won't really ruin my diet.

I think you were absolutely right about the sugar free candies. I weighed myself yesterday (Tues) and I lost 1.5 lbs from my Saturday weigh in! I miss my candy but the weight loss progress is sooo worth it.
