4th grade beginning of the year ideas

Hi all,

This is my first year teaching fourth grade and its actually an enrichment class..I need some picture book suggestions and some original activity ideas for the first few days of school.

I don't want to read ones I've read a million times like first day jitters, miss nelson, wemberly, etc. I'm looking for something a little more mature and different..I'm tired of the obvious choices plus I had some of these kids last year so I need totally different ideas.

Any suggestions on books or activities?
