What is a good sewing machine for a beginner?

I'd like to learn how to use one. I'm not too great at sewing by hand, LOL.

I think walmart has ones that are really reasonably priced. I believe they carry Brother which is a decent brand, that is what my embroidery machine is and I like it. Best of luck!

We got a Singer sewing machine off of Craig's List for $30 or $40.

I bought a Brother at Walmart for like $120 I think. It's great...automatic bobbin winding, automatic needle threading. Pretty fool proof. I do suck at sewing because I cannot cut or even sew on a straight liine worth a darn, but I've managed to make a few cute things. Ruffles for pants seem to be my specialty lol.

I don't know much about sewing or machines, but I learned on a White Sewing Machine at school, and it was very simple. I also have a Singer portable from my teen yrs., which is also simple, but I don't have a drop arm, which I think would be nice to have. Mary
