Snacks / lunch at Kindergarten / first Grade etc
So DD starts Kindergarten in september. She will be eating her snack and lunch there and apart from the fact that I am out of control hormonal that she will be gone from me for nearly 7 hours each day, the fact that she will be eating lunch away from me too is sending me over ( I know, I know but I cannot help myself ?
SO what type of food / drinks do you guys pack for their snacks and lunch? Do they have separate lunch boxes for each? Do you give them something hot for lunch? Do you send a treat or no?
Ughhhhhh the stress, the stress.
I will have to have myself admitted when she starts college.
Thanks

Re: Snacks / lunch at Kindergarten / first Grade etc
My school requested snack be sent in a paper bag labelled snack and with their name on the bag. It was only allowed to be a small bottle of water and something healthy (but my son brought a bag of goldfish, pretzels, crackers - stuff like that.
Lunch in a lunch box with a drink and I always added a treat which he came home with almost everyday. He isn't a sandwich kid so most days he took macaroni in a thermos. I'd give him coins in a change wallet to buy a snack if he wanted. Took him half the year to get he nerve to do so but he did almsot everyday after that...ice cream or chips! I held off on the school lunch until maybe 2nd month and he'd get that 1-3 times a week depending on what they were serving.

I'm glad someone else feels the same way :) I also have anxiety over DS being gone that long. I work at home and am with him all the time, so I am having attachment issues. I'll probably do like PP said and send mac and cheese in a Thermos. I'll also try cut up veggies and hummus, warmed up leftovers, and different types of sandwiches. The first month or so will be trial and error to see what DS wants to eat during the day. I'm sure some sort of "peer pressure" will come in to play at some point and he will want to take XYZ in for lunch because a friend does.

This has me in a state of panic as well. We'll forget the leaving me part for now, but I'm so worried about lunch. He is not a good eater and he eats sooOoo slow. I'm worried he will take 2 bites and lunch will be over.
Being he is so picky his lunches will probably be cheese and ketchup sandwiches, eewww, jelly sandwich or peanut butter sandwich, probably pasta some times. Some days I will probably give him a treat. I am excited to hide notes in his lunch box though
Snack will be carrots with dip, goldfish, crackers, fruit roll ups.

Re: Snacks / lunch at Kindergarten / first Grade etc
My older girls love to buy lunch, and I just pack them stuff on the days they don't want to buy. Usually turkey or bologna sandwiches, one of them loves jelly sandwiches. Or a bagel w/ cream cheese.
Snacks are usually gold fish, pretzels, sliced apples, carrots, hummus w/celery, roasted chickpeas. I buy the brown paper lunch bags, write their name on it and put it in a different part of their backpack than regular lunch.
