OPK's..optimal time to test?
what is the most optimal time to test with opk's? is it bad if i test before I leave in the AM for work?

Sorry to crash, but yes, it's not a good idea to test in the AM.
The LH hormone that the OPK is testing for takes a few hours to build up after you wake up. So it's recommended that you wait until after noon to take the test. Pick a time, say after 12pm and before bed time, that you can test each day, and make sure you hold your urine for at least 3 hours before testing. Good luck!

ok thats what i was afraid of... i am starting classes in about a week in a half and so a few nights a week I go straight from work to class and i'm not home until very late... i feel weird about bringing opk's to work though..

i always test in the morning, and it's always worked for me.
but it's probably not the most recommended time to test.

When I was TTC my son, I tested like 9pm, sometimes even 11pm if I forgot earlier. It's fine! Just pick the same time every day for that cycle.

The theory is that if you get a + in the morning, your surge started the day before so you're only catching the tail end of the surge and should be Oing very soon. Therefore, less chance to BD if you were waiting to get the + on the opk.

Sorry I'm not trying to be argumentative  I was answering the OP based on what is the optimal time to test. The morning is not optimal per the reasons above, but of course you can test in the AM. It's just not ideal and some people can entirely miss their + result by testing only in the AM. Everybody is different, just trying to help

For me personally, the afternoon always got the best results. I never had a + in the morning.
Took me a while to figure that one out!

i didint take it as argumentative at all!
i just meant simply i know people who test in the am and some in afternoona nd some who do both
i *think* the ones say to use fmu..not positive though
i think it is just diff for everyone!
but what the hell do i know..i have been here since the late 60's

I believe the morning. We are ttc for #2 and will be using OPK's this month.
When I got pregnant with DC, I got pregnant the first month using OPK's and I always tested first thing in the moning, as soon as I woke up.

I tested in the monring b/c of the not drinking anything for hours before testing. I thought I read testing in the morning was fine. But I do agree I do think it might give you less time if you ovualte during the day after you have already tested in the morning. I think that is what happened to me. I think I ovulated after the morning test b/c the next day I got my positive.
I guess it's whatever works for you!
