Am I the only teacher who doesn't have a portfolio?
I don't know...I guess teaching in NC has made me lazy. No one down here has one--they actually just go on the basis of your interview and your references down here!

I don't. I never did. I do have a folder that has a unit plan in it so they can see a sample of what kind of work I do. I never had the big binder with the pictures though.

I had to make one as part of my student teaching grade. So I just kept adding to it over the years.

I have one, but it's pretty outdated. I haven't updated it since I got my current job... which I'm starting my 6th year at.

I had to make one in college, but I think it was the biggest waste of time. I would bring it to interviews and no one ever wanted to see it. I never kept up with it.
However, now I am hearing that my coworkers going for tenure are expected to put something together showing all they have done etc to get tenure. Im glad I got it before all this.

I got tenure NINE years ago and had to put together a portfolio. What a pain.

I never made a portfolio & never was asked at an interview (but I only worked in NYC, not sure if it's different on LI).

Don't feel bad. I have a huge, elaborate portfolio that I put hours upon hours of work into...but no interviewer has ever asked to see it.
