Were you disappointed by the storm?
If you were, SHAME ON YOU!!!!!
Sorry, but I had to say it. I can't stand when people say sh!t like that, it makes my blood boil. If nothing happened to you, consider yourself lucky. It could have been much worse.

ITA!!!! I am happy that my family is safe and we had no damages to our home/cars. I feel very lucky and I am happy it didn't hit as hard as they thought it would.

Re: Were you disappointed by the storm?
agreed - what exactly are they disappointed with? That their home is intact and their family is safe?

Re: Were you disappointed by the storm?
I'm HAPPILY disappointed that the storm wasn't as bad it was supposed to be! My house is one piece and my family is safe. We may not have power but I can live with that (for now!)

Re: Were you disappointed by the storm?
I am on another message board, and have had issues with this poster in the past, but he wrote this big long thing last night to me that the only reason we are getting so much attention is because we are "NYC" and this is where all the "reporters are based".
He went on to say that no other areas ever get as much attention because they're "not New Yorkers".

Re: Were you disappointed by the storm?
I hate to use this guy but...some more....
Cause I was gonna write a snarky response of....
"Yeah, I am disappointed my basement did not flood, I am disappointed that the trees that fell didn't crush my house or my cars, I am disappointed that no one I know died! Darn it!"

I want to smack people. I will be unfriend-ing people, I'm so sick of ignorance around me.
It could have been so bad for us, thank god, instead its so bad for NJ, CT, etc ... those poor people
We got water in the basement, they got water to the rooftops, houses blowing up because of walls falling in. I can't even watch the news anymore.

Re: Were you disappointed by the storm?
Unless you live in a hole and haven't heard or seen news reports about the flooding and extensive wind damage, who the fluck in their right mind would have been disappointed? Hell even if you lost power, Irene "delivered"

I'm soooooo happy that it was not as bad as they predicted here! I feel so bad for the people on LI that have a lot of damage and for all the people in Vermont where towns are under water! I'm glad that I ran out and stocked up to prepare bc now im ready for next time!

Re: Were you disappointed by the storm?
Anyone who says the storm didn't cause much damage...just show them this picture:
"Billy Stinson, left, comforts his daughter, Erin Stinson, as they sit on the steps where their cottage once stood before it was destroyed by Hurricane Irene in Nags Head, N.C., on Aug. 28. The cottage, built in 1903, was one of the first vacation cottages built on Albemarle Sound in Nags Head. Stinson has owned the home, which is listed in the National Register of Historic Places, since 1963. "We were pretending, just for a moment, that the cottage was still behind us and we were just sitting there watching the sunset," said Erin afterward. (Scott Olson / Getty Images"

Re: Were you disappointed by the storm?
Seriously it makes me NUTS!!! These are the same @ssholes who won't evacuate next time because "it wasn't that bad".
I think the worst one is "the government is just covering their @sses because of Katrina"
NOOO They're trying to save you you idiot because its FRIGGIN DANGEROUS!!! Thank God we didn't get it that bad. There's almost a half of a million people without power and people DIED! Be THANKFUL that you didn't get it that bad! I know I am!

Re: Were you disappointed by the storm?
OMG! That picture just brought tears to my eyes.
My cousin wrote on FB that she was dissapointed and I wrote a very nasty comment in response. She is a mother of 3 little girls, I would think that she would have a little more common sense and empathy.

Re: Were you disappointed by the storm?
I feel very lucky that I dodged a bullet. I realize that it could have gone very different, based on just a few miles, in either location of landfall, ground velocity, and/or wind velocity.

Re: Were you disappointed by the storm?
I don't understand. It was EXACTLY what they say would happen.
It was going to be a Cat 1 or tropical storm. Major flooding on coastal areas. Some wind enough to put down trees, power out.
And that's EXACTLY what happened.
They NEVER said that all of LI would be under 4 ft of water. Houses would be picked up by tornados. People were expecting a Cat 4/5 hurricane. That NEVER said that.
But saying NOTHING happened. Well NOT in their area but those predicted to be flooded were flooded big time.
If only people could see farther than their own nose... watch the news, they would have seen exactly what this storm brought to the COASTAL/ZONE A & B areas that were evacuated.

Re: Were you disappointed by the storm?
my office is in Oceanside, on Royal Ave (on the canal)
i cannot even explain what I walked into today
everything is destroyed. we had 8 inches of water. my CEO said he waded through fish and jellyfish in the main lobby on sunday. we lost everything, walls, carpets, flooring, anything wood. everything is ruined. it smells, its slimy, its just awful.
this is my office. not my home. i cannot even begin to imagine how awful it would be if this was my house
i for anyone who is going through this in their own HOME

Re: Were you disappointed by the storm?
I agree with previous posters. For someone to say, they were disappointed in the storm is nuts. The only way I was a affected was losing power for about 16 hours. But walking around the neighborhood and seeing the news footage of homes that have been destroyed or flooded.....for someone to say they were disappointed it wasnt worse....those people should go to the home of someone who lost a home, or was flooded,. Seems like a selfish things for someone to say IMO
