Anyone know about laws for Pre-K bussing?
Today, at Pre-K orientation, we were informed by the teacher that it was a law that Pre-K kids had to get picked up and dropped off IN FRONT of their own house. When I called the transport department, they are telling me that I have to being DD to the general bus stop (a block or so away). We live in a townhouse community and they said it's hard to get the busses in and out.
So, is it a law that they HAVE to drop her off in front of the house or is the district trying to get away with not making an extra stop??
I know this is a rare question, but I figured I would ask anyway

Can't be a law. Not many Kindergartners in our district are picked up/dropped off in front of their house. DC are the only ones at their bus stop, and we still have to walk 3 house down to the corner. There are other families down the street that we can see who also have to walk a couple of houses down to the nearest corner.

I don't know if it's a law but I do know that the bi-laws of my association does not allow the buses to enter the property for liability issues. You may want to speak with the board (if you have one) and then you can request a stop for your child.

Since pre-k and kindergarten aren't even mandatory in NYS I doubt it's a law.

Is this through cpse? Ds is pu and do in front if our house. But I don't know if that is law. If it is cpse I would check the parents right booklet.

I do not believe that our district has any busing at all for UPK unless there is an IEP for a specific child & that includes busing. That is not really through the UPK program, though.

There is no bussing for UPK. Some private schools offer bussing. But I am not aware of any laws regarding bus stops unless your child has an IEP.

It's a law for kids going to pre-school through CPSE and EI, but not for typical programs.
