Mommys of EBF little babies -
Can you (if you remember) share some of your weight stats?
J was born 6 lbs and at her 5 month well (2 weeks ago) she was almost 10 lbs.
K was born 4 lbs 12 oz and at her last well she was almost 9lbs.
Both girls lost nearly 4/5 oz before being discharged from the hospital.
They are hitting all the milestones ahead of schedule, nurse super well, plenty of wet/poop diapers, and ped is happy with their growth.
But I can't help but wonder if they are still on a good pace with all of the ridiculous comments I get from people. Last week someone said to me "Are you sure you are feeding those girls enough they look sooooooo skinny"

I'm not really a help since DS is a little chunker but he is EBF'd. Born 8lbs, 9ozs and is almost 4 months now and prob. weighs 16 - 17 pounds!
As long as the doctor isn't concerned, don't worry about it!

Re: Mommys of EBF little babies -
My DD is EBF. She was born 7 lbs 4 oz and was dicharged 6 lb 13 oz. She is now 4 1/2 months and she is about 14 lbs. I am holding her off on solids until 6 months since she is doing so well with breast milk alone

Re: Mommys of EBF little babies -
i only partially BF so this may not be as relevant but DD was a 3lb 8oz preemie. she went down to 3lb 2oz in the NICU and was discharged after 3.5 weeks at 4lbs 10oz. at her 4 month she weighed at 11lbs 13oz. im fairly sure shes over 12lbs now. she seriously doesn't stop growing, but its amazing considering how tiny she started out just a little over 4 months ago.

Re: Mommys of EBF little babies -
DS was EBF. Weighed 7lbs at birth and at 19 weeks/nearly 5 months, he was 15lbs 5oz. So he did a little more than double his birth weight in 5 months, but remember, girls tend to be smaller and it sounds like you just have little babies to begin with My 26 month old has now overtaken his cousin who is 9 months older than him. She's completely healthy, she's just tiny. HTH
ETA - I'd also expect twins to be smaller. If your ped is not worried, I wouldn't either.

Re: Mommys of EBF little babies -
DS was EBF until 8mo... now he gets 1 formula bottle a day at 9mo.
He was born at 8lbs 5oz and now at 9mo, he is around 21lbs. He has gained 1-1.5lbs per month consistantly. Many BF babies that I know are on the chunkier side, so I got the same reactions that you are getting, from their parents. As long as they are gaining from month to month, their doctor is not concerned and they are happy, don't listen to these people!

ITA! I never understood why people feel compelled to comment on a baby's weight. Adults come in different shapes and sizes; why not children?
A gigantic meatball baby isn't necessarily healthier than your petite girls. If your girls are growing well, pooping regularly, and hitting their milestones, they're probably fine.
eta: DD was born at 6-14, came home at just under 6 lbs, was 8.5 at her 1 month visit, and has gained 1-2 lbs a month for her first 6 months. She's in the 50th percentile for weight.

Re: Mommys of EBF little babies -
Thanks girls. Their slow weight gain is weird to me, since DS was born 9lbs 3oz and gained nearly 2lbs a month (EBF)!!!

Re: Mommys of EBF little babies -
my twins were never even on the charts. The were 4lbs 15oz and 5lbs1oz at birth and consistently gained 1lb a month for the first year. They are still small at almost 3.
