Did I mess this one up?
UPDATE: I didn't get the job. They sent me a letter in the mail. I kinda think it was in poor taste to do that and ignore my follow up email. No???
I had a job interview last Wednesday. The guy told me I would be meeting with two people. I get there, have a great 1+ hour chat with the gentleman that would be my boss and then he took me to HR. I spent another 30 minutes or so with her. Now the interview was at lunchtime - the guy's first question was can I give them an 1.5 hours of my time. Of course. So by the time the HR person was done with me, when you add wait time, i had been there for over 2 hours. she ends our meeting by asking if I can meet with someone else or do I have to go back to work. I said I have to go back but would love to meet with him. Now this person was unplanned. She gets hold of his assistant and then tells me that he's in a meeting - could be 5 minutes, could be an hour she doesn't know and asks if I WANT to wait, but understands if I have to go back. I said that I know he's very busy (GM of a hotel) and if she knew how long he would be I would gladly stay but since it is unknown perhaps we can schedule another meeting. She says yes, she totally understands and absolutely. I leave and send my thank yous, in which I mention scheduling this meeting.
It is a week later and I have not heard from them. Did I blow it because I didn't wait, even though they didn't know how long this guy would be?

Re: Did I mess this one up?
My agency operates in a similar fashion, and usually if they let you meet with HR, it's a good sign you are getting the job.
They like to try to have a promising candidate meet with the VP but it's not always possible for the same kind of reasons you experienced.
My only concern would be that they may have interviewed other candidates after you and found someone that for whatever reason they liked better.
It really hasn't been that long though either on the other hand.

At my last company, even when they identified the final candidate, HR took a ridiculous amount of time to get things moving.
I don't think you messed it up. GL!

Re: Did I mess this one up?
I have seen at least 26 rejections and I am telling you, that you didn’t mess up anything. They are just not keen to take anyone.

I think sending a rejection letter after ignoring your email is shi**y and I always see every single thing as a sign. If the company can't have respect and acknowledge an email with a quick reply back then lord only knows how they act with other things so maybe you escaped a dreadful situation/company to work for.
Prayers and Hugs, you find something else soon that will be great
