Should I wake my 6week old son to eat?

After a rough night of screaming /crying due to what I think is an intolerance to Nutramigen, he has now gone 7 hours without eating and has slept for about 6hours! I already dumped a bottle I prepared for him at 3 since it was out too long.

Should i wake him? Should I be concerned? The longest he usually goes is 4 1/2 hrs without eating.

We have a doc appt later, but I don't know what to do now ...

ETA: ok... he stirred and opened his eyes enough that i could seize the moment and pick him up.

Do u think I should be concerned though? Normally I would embrace a long stretch like that, but after his pain and screaming last night, it worried me. Maybe he was just all tuckered out? Even now, he ate 3 1/2 ounces, burped, had his diaper changed and was back to sleep in no time. Poor little guy... Chat Icon

I always woke my kids to keep them on their schedule except for during the night. If it were the middle of the day I would tell you wake him. But if he pulled 6 hours through the night without sleeping then congrats to you on him sleeping through!

If it's during the day wake him to keep him on schedule, at night let him sleep as long as he can. Plus him sleeping through the day now will make him stay up tonight. I am sure he's plum tuckered out but hopefully he will sleep tonight for you. Sorry to hear the little guy is in so much pain!

I never woke DS up to eat, no matter how long he slept. As long as he doesn't have a problem gaining weight I wouldn't wake him.

I never woke a sleeping baby. he might be exhausted from the night he had and is now getting the rest he needs.
