Part-time teachers...........
I am dreading going back to work in 6 weeks already. I am a special education preschool teacher and would really like to find something to do part time rather than full time. I am certified in general and special ed up to 6th grade and am willing to do anything. Anyone have any ideas? I looked into homecare cases but haven't had any luck yet. I am even willing to do something outside of the teaching field or something with overnight hours.

Re: Part-time teachers...........
As a pre-k teacher, couldnt you look for a part-time position? When I taught pre-k I was only part time. Good luck!

Re: Part-time teachers...........
I also work in the schools (related service provider) and have thought about other jobs I could do that would require less of a time commitment, especially since I end up taking ALOT of work home. We can't really afford that kind of a career change right now, but ideas I was kicking around included, a classroom aide or working at a daycare. Good luck finding something that works for you. And please be sure to enjoy the time you have home until then!

Re: Part-time teachers...........
the only thing i can think of that would pay well would be connecting with agencies to do EI work in the home, or SEIT work in the classroom.
i go back oct. 31....luckily and randomly because of all the excessing, my district has a random .75 resource room position available that I am taking this year. I have a day and half off a week... I am so excited, but it will only be for this year.

Re: Part-time teachers...........
My neighbor does home instruction and said it's $50 an hour and at most he works 20 hours a week. You just need to be certified, doesn't matter the subject. He said that they are looking all the time.

Re: Part-time teachers...........
I would def do home work with special ed students. I have sent out a lot of resumes, and got no response. I hope you have better luck than I do. It is a great p/t position. It is very flexible.
Good Luck!
BTW if anyone knows of any agencies that are hiring please fm me. I am very interested!

As someone who does this after school and on weekends, the agencies are extremely saturated with monolingual special ed teachers and a lot of agencies have freezes on hiring them!

Re: Part-time teachers...........
My BF just got a job in an elementary yeshiva - the children receive religious instruction in the AM, she teaches in the PM. The pay is not great but it gives her the freedom she was looking for and is a great option.
