Anyone live in Port Jefferson school district?
Looking to get feedback on Port Jefferson school district from anyone with kids currently in the schools...thanks!

My kids don't go there, but as a teacher, I do know they have an excellent academic reputation. My kids go to neighboring Comsewogue and I wish they went to PJSD.

They are great for typically developing children. Run if you have children with special needs. Horrible reputation for special education services.

That's another reason why we're staying in Comsewogue! BargainMama I believe you gave me the good word about their special education services. Thank you! I didn't know PJ wasn't so great for special needs.

Can you elaborate on the special ed services? Our son DOES get special ed services-inclusion class and o.t. and p.t. services
We have to make a decision on this house by Friday!

We have to make a decision on this house by Friday!
Did you call the elementary school your son would attend to see if they have this model? I know a couple of people that are bussed to neighboring districts because PJ does not offer their type of class (one is self contained, not sure of the other). I've also read from others that they are very hard to get services from and want to provide only the bare minimum. Good luck!

Yes, I did and they do offer the inclusion class at every grade level plus the other services our son receives. The interim principal even offered to meet with me and give me a tour of the school, so I was thinking that it sounded good. Wish that I knew someone within the district....It is very hard to move your child when they get services and are doing so well where you currently are.
