DO you let your JOB affect....
...when you decide to have another baby?
My DD is turning 1 next month, if it were completely to my DH and I, we start trying within the next few months. I've always wanted to have them close in age, however...
I just started at a new school this year. I transfered to a different school within NYC, so I maintain my tenure...but I'm still new in the school.
So my question is...when would it be "acceptable" to be pregnant?

I'll do a lot of things for my career, but letting it dictate when to have kids - (when everything else is in alignment - money, preparedness for another child, etc) - no.
I think who cares if you're pregnant - why let work decide for you, KWIM?

The only thing that would hold me back is if I got a job in a different school and lost my tenure. In your case, TTC whenever you're ready. Even if you got pg tomorrow, you'd have some time to settle in before you start showing.
to you!

Re: DO you let your JOB affect....
I have ......is that the right decision for everyone? No.
I woul dhave liked to get preggo when DS was 1. But at that time my job was SUPER high stress, required tons of OT & I was having difficulty balancing being a FTWM. I had a very rough first 2 years of DS's life because of my job
Due to the stress I felt from the job, I was not doing my best at work and was subsequently let go last October. Now I had the time to have a baby but DH & I were both unemployed
NOW....I have a phenomenal job Low stress, quieter, easier place. Good environment, decent people ect! But DS is a bit over 3 and now I am the only income in the house. I can't imagine going into a job I just started 2 months ago & saying I am preggo. I would be unable to perform a portion of my job if preggo so we are waiting a bit longer.

Re: DO you let your JOB affect....
I got pregnant with my 2nd within 6 months of starting a new job. By the time I told my boss, I had been there over a year. Everyone seemed genuinely happy for me. I worked with all men and the guys even threw me a mini baby shower.
Do what is right for your family.

Re: DO you let your JOB affect....
I did.
I worked for a wacko who made my life miserable when I was pregnant with DS and after I had him. She didn't believe in work-life balance or having a family
There was NO WAY I was enduring that again. So I started looking for another job and was waiting to TTC #2 once I got a new job and was settled in. I was 36 years old, so it was a risk. But this manager was horrible, and I had to get out of there.
DH got a new job and I was able to quit and become SAHM when DS was 14 months old. I had my second DS the next year
It turned out to be the right decision for us, but every situation is different!
