I imainge every church is different but usually around Kindergarten.
Assuming you're talking about Roman Catholics..
Our first year was home study with a few meetings for parents & children to attend. (K).
After Kindergarten, they had an hour meeting once a week.

I don't know your religion, but if you are Jewish, in my synagogue you can start in Kindergarten however you don't need to start until 3rd grade. My son (1st grade) goes once a week. Starting in 3rd grade, it's twice a week.
