Re: School district procedure for sick children
Wow, in our school if you don't call in they call you (and kind of lecture you for not calling them)
We have to send in a note for their file. It can be written from the parent if it's only a short illness, if it's 3+ days we need a doctors note.

I was actually a little shocked they didnt call myself. I was wondering what would happen if my dd never showed up and I had sent her to school Anyhow, I will send a note tomm. AM like you said.

That's exactly why they call. If it were me, I'd bring it up at a PTA meeting and let them do the work of complaining higher up. Luckily you had her home, but God forbid she was lost for hours. That's scary.

We call into the nurse. They usually call the house.
You should send in a note.

My son was out this week for the first time. I didn't realize I was supposed to call. They did call me when I hadn't called. I also sent a note the day he went back.

We call the attendance office and if my kids do not go to school and I do not call her, BOY do I get an earful! LOL
Send her in with a note tomorrow.

I would send in a note too. I always called in even in daycare.

We have an attendance person we call. I send a note the next day (our pta sells pads that make it easy)
If you don't send a note they will probably catch up with you at the end of the year. Kindergarten might not need a note, since technically its not state mandated.

Re: School district procedure for sick children
We have to call the nurse and explain why the child was out the morning of and send a note in the day they return. It all should be in the packet they gave at orientation.

Re: School district procedure for sick children
We have to call the nurse --- there is a seperate number for her. If I forget to call (which I have done ) she will call by 10am to find out where Emily is.
And I always follow up with a note explaining the illness and what I did for treatments....
Such as...
"Emily was out on XXX due to a cold. She saw the doctor and has been been prescribed antibiotics" or whatever the case is...so they know what is going on!
