switching to new obgyn

Has anyone done this? I had complications during my last pregnancy and mc'd. Just got a HPT+ and am thinking of trying to get an appointment with a new practice.

Here's my question: since i had complications previously, should i go to my existing OB since they know my history or am I ok seeing a new one and hope that they can get my records?

Is there a way for them to get my records before they see me or is it something the new office will have to get after they've seen me for the first time?

I would just go to a new one and explain what happened. Then you can get your records as soon as you can and bring them to the new dr. Was the cause of the MC known?

If you're not happy with your current doc, I don't think there's really any reason to stay. You can always try a new doc and if you don't like him/her, go back to your current doc or try another.

If you make an appt w/a new doc they would be able to get your records so long as you sign a HIPAA authorization allowing them to do so. Or, you can get your records from your current doctor yourself. The doctor can charge you for the copies though. They can charge up to $1.00/page but most doctors charge .75/page.

Thanks!

I had genetics testing and all of that jazz done. It was inconclusive, but I'd like whichever new doctor I go to to have access to all of it.

I hate this whole process. Wished I had had a great experience the first time and wouldn't be searching for a new one...

Thanks so much ladies! I've never switched docs before so wasn't sure how it all worked.
