Thank you SO much for taking the lead with this! You are wonderful! Life has been so crazy on my end with holiday photo sessions taking up all of my free time this season. I was so sad I didn't have time to organize this year so I TRULY appreciate you stepping up! Last year, everything was done anonymous... I publicly listed the names by gender in age order so families were not grouped together (it was also easier to view this way). I listed the child's interests or anything specific the parents were requesting (eg. clothing- color/sizes/types).
***Need to say this... PLEASE do not flame but need to get it out there so this does not happen again this year***
Everything ran very smoothly last year! HOWEVER.... I do have to make people aware of the behind the scenes before signing up to participate! I had many people who signed up for a child and never sent the gift! Or I had to rush around last minute picking things up from people all over Long Island with my 3 month old days before Christmas! HUGE inconvenience as I was still behind on my own personal shopping (life with a 3 month old) and had to coordinate pickups with the parents who were waiting for these gifts for their kids. I even had people dropping things of at my home on Christmas Eve!!! I had to have a mom pick up her kids gifts at 8pm on Christmas Eve night because it just so happened that her son was the unlucky child who everyone signed up for then delivered last minute or not at all. I had to literally BEG people to follow through. I really enjoyed organizing this and was so happy that so many thoughtful people pulled together to help these families out. However, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not sign up unless you plan to actually by the gift and in a timely manner! I understand/understood the holidays are totally nuts for everyone and everyone has the best of intentions! This just made things VERY difficult last year! Thankfully, I had a lot of wonderful LIFers that had already donated step up to the plate with me and purchase more than what they already signed up for and sent to compensate for the people that never sent or waited until it was too last minute. PLAN to have your gift delivered by the first week of December!!!!
I would love to donate :) Just keep reposting so people see it... we had a bunch of people last year! Hopefully it isn't too late and people will still sign up! Thanks again for organizing this... you are so great!!!!
