Anyone know about this program? Can give me some insight on it, it would greatly help if you had a DC that went through it.

Re: Bay Shore school district universal preK
My great nephew and my girlfriend's son did the district Pre-K 2 years ago. They were both at the YMCA and both kids enjoyed it immensely. My nephew moved on to 5th Avenue and was happy to already have a connection with several kids in his class. My friends son was selected to participate in Spanish immersion (his family do not speak Spanish at home) - so he had less people that he knew in Kindergarten - but it had no negative effect. Is there anything specific you would like to know? I'll be happy to ask!

I'm an assistant teacher at ACLD Kramer and have worked in the Universal Pre-K class at the Y (also have been a Y employee for 6 years). What do you wanna know? I agree with the previous poster that the kids who attend do have a nice benefit of knowing other kids in their classes once in Kindergarten. They also offer UPK classes at Kramer.

It's everyday...M-F. There's a morning class that's 9-11:30 am and an afternoon that is 12:30-3. I really like the UPK teacher a lot! They have specials during the week-a gym class, music class, science class and most recent is a Spanish teacher who comes in. In late Jan and Feb, they have an 8 week session in the pool once a week for swim lessons. Snack is provided daily too!
