Added question: Anyone's DC have enlarged tonsils? And/or Sleep Apnea
Went to a sleep consult today and was told my DS" tonsils are pretty large, and may be contributing to some sleep trouble.
If your DC's tonsils are enlarged, how did you find out and did they do anything about it? Did it affect them in any way?
ETA: Thinking about the possibility of my DS having some sort of sleep apnea really concerns me. His sleep study is tonight due to a last minute cancellation. It will cost us $800 out of pocket but I can't not do it, I'm too worried about his bad sleep lately.
Anyone have experience with sleep apnea? Is it something they can "fix" usually?

Re: Anyone's DC have enlarged tonsils?
Ds1 had this. They looked like golf balls in the back of his throat. You can see them if you look in the back of his throat. He had them out when he was 3 along with his adenoids because he began getting tonsillitis on a regular basis. Sometimes his tonsils would swell so much they put him on a steroid so he didn't choke on them. Once they came out he stopped snoring and slept much better.

Re: Anyone's DC have enlarged tonsils?
DS had enlarged tonsils and adenoids. He had both removed at 2 1/2. He was constantly sick, snored and had sleep apnea.
He no longer snores, but is still a terrible sleeper. I think that he never "learned" how to sleep properly, because he couldn't breathe properly.
DD has enlarged tonsils. The Doctor just watches hers. She never gets sick and does not snore.

Re: Anyone's DC have enlarged tonsils?
DS had large tonsils. He was found to have sleep apnea, but never had tonsillitis. He did get extremely high fevers often with hardly any other symptoms. He got his tonsils out at age 3, nearly one year ago. He now sleeps heavily and he has hardly gotten a fever since.
