Anyone else still have a 1st gen Nook?
The old white one? BN is running a promotion now that if you purchase any new Nook, you can trade in the old one for a $50 gc. Good until 12/24, in store only.

I know. I think I'm going to do it, you can only get about $50 on ebay for a 1st gen wifi like mine anyway, and it's less hassle...

I was going to post here too but saw your post.
I think I am going to do it.
I had the extended warranty on my nook and it will expire in a few months. Now, I can go with a new one. Lighter and longer battery life.
Turns out I never used the 3G or wifi function with my 1st generation nook so getting the simple touch will be fine. I will loose the game function though. Oh well!!!

i did until about a month and a half ago..
my 1st gen. had a frozen screen, and i had the extended warranty-they ended up sending me the simple touch reader as the replacement for free! (then again i paid $80 for the warranty last summer  )
i love the simple touch!!

I did it! Have to charge up the new one, it's so little!
They let me keep the cord and plug, the simple touch doesn't come with the plug that attaches to the USB cord. My brother has a 1st gen he doesn't want to trade in so I'll give him the extra cord.
I was a little bummed to see them put a "bargain priced" tag on the back of my old nook.

I just traded my original nook in this weekend. I am so glad I did. I love the nook simple touch! It is so light and the page turning is so fast!! I used the $50 gift card toward a new cover and I'll use the rest to buy new ebooks, it stinks that you can't use it toward the purchase of the new nook!

I did not even think about the cord when I returned it. I did not bring it. They did not even asked.
Then I found out the $9.99 AC adapter is the same as the one that came with 1st generation. So... free now! That would have been such a waste of $$.
