Moms of 2-3 yr olds and school

For those of you with 2-3 yr olds what kind of programs did you put them in (if any). How many days a week/how long?

I am putting my DS (who will be 2 in March) in a program starting in the Summer for 1.5 hr 2x a week and then possibly adding a day come Sept depending on how it goes. I just wanted to know if that's the typical freq/duration of programs for that age group.

TIA!

DD is 2 years old. I started her in September one day a week from 9:15 to 11:45 and in December we went to two days a week for the same hours. I also took her to Music Together classes as well. Starting this week she will attend preschool three days a week for the hours listed above. HTH

Wow! My son will only be doing 3 days at 1.5 each in Sept. but he won't be 3 until March 2013. And then that summer I will put him in 3x a week at 2.5 each.

Do you think 1.5 is too short? I am definitely going to increase it now to 3 days a week. So it's 4.5 hours for the week.

My son turned 2 in Oct and is only doing 1 x week, 1.5 hrs with me (mommy and me nursery program).

In Sept right before he turns 3 he will do 2.5 hrs, 2 x week. They offer 3 days but I chose not to. I personally think it's too much at that age. He'll be with me the other 3 days and we'll continue with 1 or 2 music/gym type programs.

Re: Moms of 2-3 yr olds and school

Shortly after DS turned 2 we did a 1 day a week (1 hour program) Mommy & Me at the pre school I planned on sending him to.

Just after he turned 3 their summer camp program started & he went Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday for 6 week 2.5 hours each day. The 1st 2 weeks were rough but he started to like it after that!

Since September he now goes Mon, Wed & Fri 2.5 hours.

Next summer just after his 4th birthday they have a 4 day summer camp f0r his age group. He will go to that. Still only 2.5 hours each day.

Next September after he turns 4 I would like him to do the 5 day/ 2.5 hour PreK program they have.

DD turned 2 in Nov.

We started her in Sept 2 days a week for 2 hours a session in a 2's program.

This Sept we will most likely increase to 3 days a week for 3 hours a session in a 3's program.

She also does a Spanish music class once a week.

Re: Moms of 2-3 yr olds and school

always has been always will be full time.

She's 3 now but even at 2 she was in pre-primary school. Actual class time is 8:30 - 2:45. I have her in before and after care as well.

She's currently in primary school.

ETA: her day starts at 7:45-8:00 and ends around 6pm. She's fine with it, we're fine with it. No she's not too young to handle it, yes she loves it. No she doesn't seem to have any issue with not being home (not that we'd give her that option anyway)

Thanks so much! I think 1.5 2-3x a week is a perfect balance. It's not too little and it's not too much. I'd prefer more days and shorter times than less days and more times. Should be interesting! Chat Icon

At 2 Landon started school. He went 2 days a week from 9:15-11:45. He stayed later one day a week for Tumbling (til 12:30).

At 3 he goes the same days/hours.

Will also do the same at 4.

I wanted to put dd in a 2 yo program twice a week for 2 hours each but there were no spaces. She will start a 3 yo program in sept 3 days a week for 2.5 hours each day. Shell be 3 in October.
