UPDATE! Tmi...can we talk about poop?
Mine is not ideal at all.
I've upped my leafy green and veggie intake, but no improvement.
I've always been more on the regular side. DH thinks it's stress...but I wonder if it could be too much coffee? ----------------------------------------------
Day one on pro-biotics - SUCCESS!!!
I couldn't find align, but I bought one by centrum.
I decided not to take it yesterday in hopes that my gut just needed a kick start. I hope that's just what it was.
i think next time I will go with pills though...it said tasteless for drinks or cold foods and I could still taste it.

Coffee can definitely back you up. Maybe drink more water.

Ditto. Love this stuff. Pricey but worth it. Takes a while to work so give it time.
And coffee shouldn't back you up- usually it makes me go!
ETA- just read you are the OPPOSITE of backed up. Yes, the coffee can do that- caffeine is a stimulant and it can stimulate your intestines too much. My DH swears that he is like a clock- the second he has his morning coffee- he has to go! Anyway, Align is great for that. Since having my gallbladder out I was having constant diaherra as a side effect- a few weeks on Align and it all stopped!

Re: Tmi...can we talk about poop?
I think the combo of stress + more coffee + more leafy greens could definitely be causing your issues!

Re: Tmi...can we talk about poop?
I'm going to try align when I get to the store. I think I have Metamucil around...I'll try that too.
It's not diarrhea like I have to go and cramps, etc. It's just not well formed. at all!
i did suspect something with my gallbladder when pregnant...could the gall bladder be a cause in this?

It really balances your digestive system..helps with the bloating, gas, cramps, diaherra, constipation of IBS It is specifically indicated for IBS symptoms and IMO it's one of the better ones.

Usually the gallbladder won't cause symptoms like that untiil after it is removed- my Dr explained the reason why and it makes sense. If you have gallbladder issues, your symptoms are usually pain in the upper right side, feeling sick after eating fats, etc

i wouldnt try the metamucil because that will make you go even more.
i have ibs and i go from constipation to the complete opposite. if i run out of align for a week, im totally screwed!
and also, ftr, when im stressed, the symptoms get worse.

Re: Tmi...can we talk about poop?
Have you tried to stop dairy products first?
My problem wound up being I was lactose intolerant. And even things like Yogurt and hard cheese (which are supposed to be ok for people with lactose intolerance) would KILL ME!
I couldn't even have cookies because they were made with butter!
Now I take Digestive Advantage for Lactose Intolerance every morning and can eat anything I want - no problem.

Re: UPDATE! Tmi...can we talk about poop?
I'm pretty sure probiotics take a week or two of daily use to work to establish good bacteria in your gut.
I'm guessing that your stomach is upset from the stress you're under, and the coffee is making it worse. Decaf coffee is just as bad for your stomach, btw. When my Mom was being treated for cancer, my stomach got so bad I actually had to go see a GI specialist. So I'm quite the expert on "nervous stomachs"! Probiotics taken regularly helped me, as did cutting down on dairy and on greasy food. Feel better.

I agree. Emotions and stress can certainly manifest physically. After my mother's death I was put on stomach meds, because I had severe stomach pain and the problems you experienced.
I was on for about a year, and then stopped taking them and was fine. This was before the whole 'probiotics craze' so that may have helped me too, who knows.
