Has anyone's insurance covered iui's?
That's the road we're heading down, I was just wondering if any insurances cover this and if not what is usually the cost?
Also, is Clomid expensive?
I have blue cross anthem. It's a pretty good insurance but I know most of the time infertility treatments are not covered. Thanks!

I think everyone's insurance is different. Mine was covered-we just paid a copay-same for the clomid.

Re: Has anyone's insurance covered iui's?
Before we exhausted our IF coverage all of our IUIs were 100% covered as was the Clomid. We are about to start an IUI cycle soon and becuz we no longer have insurance coverage it will be costing us $1400 out of pocket and that does not include medication. It does however, cover all blood work, office visits, sonos, etc.

Re: Has anyone's insurance covered iui's?
You should call them directly and find out what exactly is and isn't covered (meds and procedures). And Clomid is def. on the cheap side if you do have to pay OOP.

Re: Has anyone's insurance covered iui's?
I have unlimited IUI's. Meds I have a co-pay and most are covered, the ones that aren't haven't been too much OOP.
However I don't have any ivf coverage so after 9 failed IUI's IVF is the way I have to go.

Re: Has anyone's insurance covered iui's?
IUIs are covered under my insurance (GHI). Clomid is not (thankfully it is rather inexpensive...I pay less than $10 for 5 pills)
I have a prescription plan through Walgreens (I have insurance through DH but his insurance doesn't cover everything). Through the plan I get a discount on clomid and other drugs. It was like $20 for the plan but with my other prescriptions I end up saving $$.

Re: Has anyone's insurance covered iui's?
IUIs are covered under my insurance, too. Most insurance companies don't cover IVF 100%, though. I had to pay for a portion of the medications OOP.

What if your insurance will cover the sonos and bloodwork regardless? Do facilities work out something where they take that amount off for blood and sonos so it is cheaper?

Re: Has anyone's insurance covered iui's?
All insurance companies have different coverage per procedure, total per lifetime, meds... etc. I have a small copay for meds, but DH's job has copay reinbursment.
After I met my deductible, I was covered 100%. I have unlimited iui's and meds. For IVF, I have $50K lifetime total.

My IUI's were covered and Clomid was $5 for me. It will all depend on your insurance plan.

Re: Has anyone's insurance covered iui's?
Mine were covered under nys mandate but this doesnt go go for all ins plans. Clomid was covered but Gemara was not. Some people had both covered. It all depends. Definitely call. Some make you sign up with a dr for treatments too. Good luck.

Re: Has anyone's insurance covered iui's?
Mine were covered but we had to pay a 50 dollar co-pay for each visit including just drawing blood and than 20% co-insurance. This time it only took one cycle so it wasn't bad but with my dd it was 7 months and the co-insurance adds up quicikly. We have aetna open access. Every insurance company is different though...you should call and talk to a respresentive.
Clomid is not an expensive drug.

Re: Has anyone's insurance covered iui's?
Thanks girls. I called my insurance and they said inseminations are covered, I asked if she means iui's but she said she wasn't sure. I wonder if she meant artificial insemination.
Anyway, I guess I will wait and see what happens when my drs office submits the claim. Either way I have to have it done

Re: Has anyone's insurance covered iui's?
IUIs are not covered by my insurance. I would make sure and ask if monitoring is covered because that can get pricey. When I priced it out and it would have been $2000 a pop so I would be sure that is what they mean before you continue. I think with my insurance clomid was like $10.

Not sure how that would work. I would imagine your RE would just bill you directly for whatever your insurance does not cover. In my case, this is an IUI program called Global IUI for those who are paying 100% OOP. It was designed to estimate all your costs for one IUI cycle through a BFP, you pay up front and there are never any additional charges.......this is all inclusive.

Iui is an intrauterine insemination so it sounds like it's covered! Yay!

Re: Has anyone's insurance covered iui's?
My ins covers IUIs and I did 1 IUI before moving on to IVF. Clomid was also covered under my ins, but you should call ur insurance company to find exactly what is covered. Sometimes they don't cover IF procedure but they will cover the testing and the medications.
I just read ur response about inseminations being covered....I think that means IUIs are covered. Good Luck!

You should find out if there is a max and at what percent is covered. For example, DH's insurance covers us but at 80%.
If your path leads you to a RE, they will go over all the financials with you.
Good luck!
