exclusively pumping girls
How do your drop a pump????
ok so I know the answer is to just not pump for a session, but it seems more complicated then that. My twins are 4.5 months old and I ahve been pumping the entire time. At this point I pump 7-8 times a day. If they let me sleep at night then I don't get up. My schedule is sometime in the night (when ever they get us up) 5:30 am( till 6:30), 9:15 (at work), 12:30 (at work), 3pm, 6pm, 9pm. I usually feed one of the girls while pumping. Shifting the times of the pumps really does not work for me. I think it will eat up more of my free time. At least now I'm feeding a baby while I'm pumping. If I move the time, i'm still going to need the old time to feed a baby, but then I'll be pumping while I should be making dinner etc and the 2 pumps at work are set break times.
My firend who is an LC is trying to get me to drop a pump and I'm apprehensive about it. I'm not keeping up supply wise now. I'm very afraid that my supply will drop.
what would you do??

Re: exclusively pumping girls
Hi,
when you say drop a pump, do you mean and do a formula instead? or just drop a feeding?
i'm not sure when you went back to work, but with my first, soon after i went back to work when i had to pump a couple times a day, my supply started to drop. I now have a 5.5. month old, and just went back to work about a month ago. I am starting to see now a drop in the supply as well. It's stressful to not pump enough or keep up - and they only eat more as they get older - and soon you will also need the milk to mix with the food you start giving them (rice cereal,etc)...
so the other day i started one formula a day. (well at least on the days i work or am not home). It has relieved some stress for me, well a lot of stress for me. Before, if i missed a pump i would have to get one in at some point because then DS would have nothing to eat if i was at work! now at least i have some freedom. I think once the supply drops that is your sign...
I can't tell you what to do re formula or not, but if you don't have the supply i'm not sure how it works to keep up.
if you drop one pump, you will still be able to feed the babies at the other times, most likely your supply will just drop for that one pump. THat's how it was when i weaned my first.
good luck, Hope that helps!

Re: exclusively pumping girls
no I only pump, my twins can't BF. I mean going from 7 to 6 pumps a day and maintaining production, not supplementing with formula. I have milk in the freezer for that. I will supplement with formula once we run out
So far my supply has not dropped and I have been at work for 4 weeks now.
I'm looking for the best way to eliminate a pump session and still maintain output
