How did you tell your family?

I would love a creative way to tell our parents.

This post confused me for a second because I thought I had posted it but then I realized we have the same name, but you have a 2 after yours. haha..


Anyhow, we told my parents first and then went to DH parents to tell them. Everyone later came over to celebrate and we told our grandmothers, and siblings.

i'd love to hear everyone's story! we are still holding out on telling family, just barely 5wks at this point. we were thinking of swapping one of our pictures on our entertainment center with either first sono or pregnany test and having the parents over for din. if no1 notices, we'll point out our "new" frame.

We told DH's family by putting a sono picture into his parents' anniversary card.

My family is all out of state, so for my parents, we skyped with them and told them to check their email because we emailed them a picture from our wedding.. so this way we were able to see their reaction.

For my grandparents... I called each of them and asked them if they preferred "great-grandma/pa" or "nana/papa". They enjoyed that and both had the same reaction... "are you pregnant?!"

For my first DD, we had t-shirts made for our doggies that said "Soon-to-be- Big Brother" and "Soon-to-be- Big Sister". I invited everyone over one Sunday for dinner, and I just let the dogs roam around until someone literally read the shirts- and then the screaming commenced! haha

For this preganacy, we had our 4 year old DD go up to the grandparents and say "Guess what Grandma? I'm gonna be a Big Sister!" and then that round of screaming began!

My mother actually guessed. One day we were just talking about random things and she said ‘you’re pregnant, aren’t you?’ And that was that.

With my sis- She came to my house and I had my 1st sono pic and told her that I haven’t been feeling well and went to the doc and he found “this”- and I showed her the sono pic. It was cute.

As for my other family- my mom told everyone after three months or so.

Me and DH were just married in Sept and got pregnant on our HM so our families didn't expect it. We told our parents we had a little thank you for all their help with the wedding etc the past year then handed them a box with a bow on it. Inside was a pic of our sono in a "grandparents" picture frame and had each of our parents open it.

But you HAVE to video tape their reactions! That part was priceless!!

Also, we had a cupcake gender reveal for our families. Me and DH wanted to find out alone together so we found out in the doc office but that night I baked cupcakes and filled the inside with Pink (or blue) icing and had everyone bite into them at the same time.

For #1, we found out a few days before Father's Day -- so we bought FIL a Grandpa card and asked he and MIL to open it together.

They were both confused, but then started crying as soon as they clicked they were going to have their first grandchild.

We framed a sono pic and gave it to my father, his wife and my IL's to open on XMas Eve. They were very confused and didnt know what it was at first (my dad thought it was an electronic picture frame ) finally my SIL, who is a Dr screamed, "Your Preggo" and then madness followed. It was one of the greatest moments of my life

For my mom we set it up like Dh was going to take a picture of her and me, but really he was recording video.

instead of saying "say cheese" he said "Say <my name>'s pregnant!"

It was great because we caught her whole reaction on video

For my in-laws, we flew to North Carolina in secret, created a huge sign that said, "We're having a baby!" and then ambushed them while they were shopping in Walmart. We just stood at the end of an aisle where they were shopping, and didn't say a word until they practically bumped into us.

For my mom, we told her the next morning after BFP. We just rang her doorbell super early that morning before she left for work. The minute she saw me she knew right away.

Well my mom knows. Dc ratted us out. Dc is only 2 and guess heard me and dh talking and said to my mom last night.
