KDSI Courses Please Help!
Hello all! This is my second year since I completed my masters that I have been procrastinating on starting my 30 above. I work in NYC. I am interested in taking the KDSI courses but I am nervous if there is a huge work load as well as the difficulty of the courses. Can anyone please give me some feedback? Were they easy? worth it? how are the midterm/finals? Is there an easy course you suggest? Please help! I need to get started!!

Re: KDSI Courses Please Help!
I finished my 30 and above about 2 years ago through KDSI. If you plan to stay in NYC, I would definitely recommend it. It is self paced, easy, and convenient. Each course consists of a series of lectures that are about 2 1/2 hours long. I believe there are approximately 10 lectures for one course. You basically take a pre-test, listen to the lecture, take a post-test, and then reply on a message board. The midterm and final both have open-ended questions. There is a transcript of the lecture you can search in case you need to look something up. I don't know if things have changed since I took them but I hope this helps.

Re: KDSI Courses Please Help!
i dont know anything about kdsi, but in nyc you also have the option of taking clep tests for credit towards your 30 above. they are about $100 per test, and are either 3 or 6 credits. no course work, you just have to take the test and pass it. the title of the test just cant be the title of a course (undergrad or grad) you have taken already. just google CLEP and check it out. good luck!

Were the tests difficult? Are there certain ones that you recommend taking? Is there a way for me to prepare for them? Websites? Books?

Re: KDSI Courses Please Help!
they arent too bad. i recommend the college mathematics and the humanities tests- they are both 6 credits and not too hard. when you register there are practice review books you can buy or you can get them from amazon or barnes and noble. ive taken the psychology one too and that was heavy on the science but not too crazy. if you are a good test-taker, this is a great and cheap way to go that takes hardly any time. good luck!
