What kind of vrius is going around with this high temps!

Ok so we went the Ped on Sat. the 28th for our 3.5 year old's eye (he has a blocked tear duct and always get clogged---if you're wondering why don't we get this looked at, we did and its a story in its self), so they gave a eye drop and it cleared up.

Monday morning DS wakes up and tells me that his head hurts, but he really means his ear. So we go back to Ped office and they examine him and he has an ear ache (no temp), so they give an antibotic. By the next day he feels better--I kept him home the rest of the week to make sure he gets better and on Friday we have an appointment to see a new eye Dr.

Thursday night rolls around and at 5:30pm I happen to feel his forehead and its burning up--hes 101! So I bring him back to the Ped on Friday (before the eye Dr.) they did some blood but was hard to figure out since he's been on an antibotic, so they change his antibotic. So from Friday to the morning of Sunday he was averaging 103 temp. and not eating. Sunday the temp came down to about 99/100. But Monday its spikes back up to 103. So I called the Ped office's service at 5:00am and they told me to bring him to LIJ.

At LIJ, my son was not cooperating, he didn't was to leave a urine sample. They did a chest X-ray and was clear. So they send us home and keep doing what you are doing with Tyneol, Motrin and Advil and keep drinking. We followed up with the Ped later that day and they said its a vrius he'll probably run a fever for a few more days and the reason why he's probably not eating/gagging when he eats is because of the white thing (tonsil stone) in the back of his throat, so don't be alarmed if it comes out--its not a tooth (that's what it would look like).

So today he didn't eat much, hes drinking and sleeping the day away---he just woke up from falling asleep at 4:00pm (mind you he had two other naps today).

Anyone else's DC have this?

About a week before DS's first birthday he ran a 102-104 fever for almost a full week before it broke. No strep, no ear infection just the fever. When it did beak DS had a pretty nasty rash on his back for a day or two and that was it.

I just tried to keep him hydrated and cool. There really isn't anything else you can do. Good luck!

My kids didn't, but I think I did. I came home from a christening last Subday feeling tired. Within a half hour I had the chills. I took my temp and had 101, which is pretty high for me- I never get fevers. It knocked me on my ass for 2 days then I went to the dr, also with white spots in my throat and it turns out I had tonsilitis. I know tons of people with strep too. Did they take a culture?

All viruses can cause high temps. Just keep alternating Tylenol and I ubuprofen and plenty of fluids

About a week and a half ago dd had a fever virus. She was fine running around playing all day. We had company & then went toba friends. Then around bedtime she felt warm I took her temp it was 104. Gave motrin and put her to bed. She woke up the next morning and was kinda cranky that day and the next, but no more fever. Ped said if it lasts more than 3 days call them back. That is why they sent you in I guess. Fever viruses can be really weird. Is it gone now?

They are weird. Dd and da had for two days each. Ds got up to 104.1 rectal! Super scary.

DS' daycare has all kinds of alerts up, and nearly all of them mention fevers. DS was sick 2 weeks ago, and the ped was saying that there are a ton of different viruses going around right now and they are constantly dealing with kids with fevers lately.

DD woke up from a nap on sunday with what looked like hives all over her face. I figured it was an allergic reaction to something, gave benedryl and we went about our day. Woke up that night screaming that her head hurt, with 102 fever. Since then the hives come and go and the fever has bounced around from 101 - 104.3. She is eating very little and drinking very little. been to the dr. 3 times and every test has come back normal. Dr said same thing that it was viral and to keep her hydrated. gl

My daughter was sick last week with the high fevers. She ended up having strep, the weird thing is that the culture came up negative in the beginning of the week. At the end of the week I brought her back in and sure enough it was strep. It threw me for a loop since my kids never have had strep. First time for anything!

Yeah I think its breaking. He napped yesterday from 4:00pm -- 9:00pm and took it was like 99.5. But threw the night he came in and felt warm, I gave him motrin and when he woke like at 8am it was 89.9 and early afternoon it was 100.0---AND he's finallly eating thank god.

He asked for mac and cheese for dinner, but he fell asleep--he's sleeping now.

DS just had a very high fever for 5 days (101-104) it was very scary. The Dr said it was a virus and to come back if it did not go away. The day we were supposed to go back his fever broke. Now he is his hyper little self, totally fine!

I know how scary it can be, I hope your little guy feels better asap!

ets: he also wasn't really eating but he was drinking soo much. He was also sleeping much more. Now he is back to his normal routine. It sounds very similar to your DS.
