Immunotherapy/Allergy shots?

Anybody do this to help with allergies?

Did it help and how long did it take until you noticed a difference?

Still dealing with dog allergies and we're not planning to re-home them because I've been using flonase which seems to help a bit (plus air purifiers, keeping them out of our bedroom, etc).

TIA!

It helps me, but I still also take 2 allergy meds daily.

It is hard to say how long, it depends on how frequently you go. I wanted relief quickly and to speed the process so at points I was going for shots 2 or 3x a week.

The shots were awesome!!!!!! I went once per week at the beginning and started to notice relief within 6 months from cats. I got out of the routine of going after 2 years and I fully regret stopping. My allergies are back to bad again.

Maybe it's worth it for me to try it then.

Thanks!

Re: Immunotherapy/Allergy shots?

When I was little, I was allergic to everything...animals, ketchup, oranges...all things that I loved.

Once in awhile, I'll have a bit of a flair up, but for the most part, I'm fine now, although I do still have a couple of intense allergies (to horses, for example). I think if I were to be exposed to horses more though, I'd develop an immunity to it...since that is what happened with my cat allergy.

I think getting over them was a mixture of the allergy shots that I went for once a week and just constantly being exposed to the things that I was allergic to.
