Lupus
Hi, just wondering if anyone has any experience with Lupus? My mom received news this past week that she tested positive for something in her blood and they are suspecting Lupus. She's being sent to a Rheumatologist but i'm wondering if anyone has any good Dr. recommendations? I'd like to take her somewhere very reliable and experienced to have her accurately diagnosed and proceed with the best treatment.
Your thoughts and words of wisdom will be very appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Re: Lupus
My mom has a severe case of SLE. She was diagnosed about 25 years ago. The test that came back positive is your mom's ANA. Fortunately, false positives are fairly common. I had a positive ANA when I was going thru my lung issues. It can be positive for many different reasons. I use Dr. Kahn in Smithtown and I love her (631)724-8900. If you have any questions, fm me.

Re: Lupus
My grandmother was diagnosed at age 50 even though she was exhibiting symptoms since age 16. She really has no health issues specifically related to Lupus other than that she is slow to heal. She will be 82 this year
I would recommend her doc but he's in NYC, let me know if you want his info.
