Hip & Back Pain- Sleep related
Im almost 19w and I am already getting the worst hip and lower back pain during the night. Ive been laying on my side since day 1. I can only lay on my side for an hour until my hip hurts so bad that I have to lay on my back for a while before I can switch and lay on my other side. The pain is so bad and it goes into my lower back and butt area. I wake up every hour and Im getting no sleep at all.
Do you think that a snoogle or boppy type pillow will help? Ive tried putting a regular pillow inbetween my legs but it doesnt help. Im thinking about buying the snoogle, but I hate to spend $60 on a huge pillow that if it doesnt help, im stuck with it. Im also thinking of buying a memory foam pilllow top for my mattress. Any suggestions will greatly be appreciated. Did the snoogle or any other body pillow help relieve pain for you? TIA

Re: Hip & Back Pain- Sleep related
I have had the same problem with both of my pregnancys. The ONLY relief that I have found is sleeping in my recliner chair. Once I started sleeping in the chair, I barely woke up to go to the bathroom, I wasnt as sleep deprived as waking and turning during the night really takes a toll on you and the pain stopped! If you don't have a recliner / rocking chair, I suggest you look into a good one for it will come in handy once your LO arrives. Feel better!

Re: Hip & Back Pain- Sleep related
I had the same issue, but it all stopped once I started using the snoogle. Even now at 28 weeks, I can't even lie on the couch for an extended period of time without hip and back pain. My only option is to watch tv in my bed the snoogle. Have been sleeping really well ever since I started using it.
Hope it gets better for you!

Re: Hip & Back Pain- Sleep related
Personally, I hated the Snoogle. It is very hard and didn't help me at all. I used to sleep sitting up on my couch when I was pregnant w/ the boys. I also got a regular body pillow and used it (along w/ some ice packs) and that was the only way I could sleep.

I shove two pillows under me but its not really working anymore. I was thinking about the snoogle too, my friend highly recommends it.

Re: Hip & Back Pain- Sleep related
I get this too. Plus shoulder pain on the shoulder I'm sleeping on.
The best thing that works for me is a regular pillow behind me right against my butt/back and a regular pillow in front of me for my belly to rest on and to wrap my leg around.
When I get sore I flip or tilt so I'm sort of on my back but tilted so the weight is distributed off me and onto the pillow.

Re: Hip & Back Pain- Sleep related
I have the snoogle and it helps but barely. i wouldn't recommend it. it is large and cumbersome (im short and have a super small bed)... i have tremendous back pain at 14w even using the snoogle.

Re: Hip & Back Pain- Sleep related
Im 21 weeks and SUFFERING so bad with shoulder and hip pain when I wake up in the morning... I was going to buy one of those pillows too, but like you I dont want to waste the $ if its not going to help. I hear such mixed reviews of them... I have a long way to go and I need to do something for relief because I wake up every single day in so much pain..
